How to take backup of zimbra mail accounts using zmmailbox.

Zimbra zmmailbox is very helpful tool for administrators to manage Folder, Calendar and other admin related task.Using zmmailbox you can perform the backup of zimbra mail accounts. This article will guide you take the backup and restore zimbra mail accounts.

/opt/zimbra/bin/zmmailbox -z -m mail@yourdomain.com getRestURL “//?fmt=zip” > /backup-path/mail@yourdomain.com.zip

and restore it with:

/opt/zimbra/bin/zmmailbox -z -m user@yourdomain.com postRestURL “//?fmt=zip&resolve=skip” /backup-path/mail@yourdomain.com.zip

OR

/opt/zimbra/bin/zmmailbox -z -m user@yourdomain.com postRestURL “?fmt=zip” /backup-path/mail@yourdomain.com.zip

If you have to specify folder.
For export Calendar:

/opt/zimbra/bin/zmmailbox -z -m user@yourdomain.com getRestURL “/Calendar/?fmt=zip” > /backup-path/account-calendar.zip

For Contacts:

/opt/zimbra/bin/zmmailbox -z -m user@yourdomain.com getRestURL “/Contacts/?fmt=zip” > /backup-path/account-contacts.zip

To restore:

/opt/zimbra/bin/zmmailbox -z -m user@yourdomain.com postRestURL “/?fmt=zip&resolve=skip” /backup-path/account-calendar.zip

You can use the same restore command for contacts just change the file.
Note: The resolve= parameter has quite a few useful options:

“resolve=skip” ignores duplicates of old items, it’s also the default conflict-resolution.
“resolve=modify” changes old items.
“resolve=reset” will delete the old subfolder (or entire mailbox if /).
“resolve=replace” will delete and re-enter them.
